We are delighted to be featured in the latest documentary ‘For the Love of Meat’ from Matthew Evans (SBS’s The Gourmet Farmer). Evans’ documentary examines the impact of current meat practises in Australia and we’re proud to have our journey to serving Free Range Chicken become part of the conversation.
The documentary follows Steven Marks, together with Matthew Evans, as they visits a FREPA accredited Free Range Farm and see first hand the positive impact higher welfare poultry farming has for the chickens. For more information stay tuned for our comprehensive report on free-range chicken.
After leaving the farm Steven is determined to serve only Free Range Chicken at all of the Taqueria’s and turns the conversation to Mark Hawthorne (CEO – ANZ) and Robert Hazan (Co-Founder/Executive Director) to go over the financials. A decision to move forward would see the business add over a $1 million in costs to the business.
Knowing it’s the right thing to do GYG moves forward and has decided absorb the cost into the business without passing any onto customers. A bold move to back the brand and lead the industry to make a change to also do better.
